Description

The course is currently designed for a student population impacted by COVID and College policies that the department offer this course every third semester. This semester I have a diverse student population in terms of developmental levels including cohort year (freshman, junior, senior), prior foundational course work (biochemistry, analytical, physical), and research experience. I have altered the assessment part of the course substantively from prior iterations and reduced topic coverage to provide flexibility.

Learning Goals

Students will know the fundamentals of inorganic chemistry and the associated laboratory techniques with this subdiscipline. Students will be able to reinforce their problem solving skills by applying central principles and improving their efficiency in finding appropriate source materials. The students will increase their ability to read and analyze the chemical literature. The students will reinforce their communication (written) and collaboration skills.

For more specific details see the syllabus and chapter lo documents.

How the course is taught
This course has limited lectures with an emphasis on small group active learning and some flipped.
