I am interested in what Open Educational Resources are available for teaching undergraduate general chemistry courses.  It seems like the concensus from a few years ago was that OpenStax + Sapling online homework was the only viable options for large classes.

What new textbook and/or homework resources am I missing?

Has anyone used Canvas successfully for online homework?

Chem101 (https://www.101edu.co/) is also a viable option for HW and in-class assignments and it has links to OpenStax texts. We are using Chem101 in my department this semester and we are very happy with it.

Hi Jesse,

For Chemistry in general, I'll point out that LibreTexts (used to be called ChemWiki) has several OpenStax texts, plus additional OER Chem texts, and some instructor-made texts and materials. You can essentially build a text to your liking (or use one that someone else has put together) that is customized for your course. I use LibreTexts as a course management page where the students get everything except for grades. It doesn't do online homework yet, but the plan is that it will be able to provide a homework system (and possibly grade management) in the future.
