Greetings IONiC community. It is time again for a community challenge, and let me tell you, this is going to be a challenge. The topic: fundamental aspects of organometallic chemistry. The challenge: making Literature Discussion LO's using papers from ACS journals. Is that enough of a teaser to get you interested? I sure hope so.
If you are still reading this I must have said enough to make you curious. I can't release the full details at this time, but I am working on something with fellow LC member Adam Johnson and special guest star Drew Duncan. What we need are a few more good Literature Discussion LOs. What I would love to see is a little bit of a virtual workshop happen. In my mind that means a group of three or more of our community members gets together virtually to create the LO, however we would certainly be happy to accept single author LOs. So, if you attended a workshop and really hit it off with your group, this is a perfect way to rekindle that magic and work together. If you weren't able to make it to one of our workshops, this is the perfect opportunity to experience all of the hard work without the talks or the annoying LC dance parties. My role will be to coordinate, advise, and keep things moving towards a January deadline.
If you are still interested right now all you need to do is e-mail me to say 1) that you are interested and 2) that you either have a group, are willing to work in a group I assign or want to fly solo. Once I have a list (hopefully a long one) of people I will be in contact. We have several papers that need LOs, several topics that need papers that will need LOs plus a need for LOs on recent papers in the general field of Organometallic Chemistry. That means if you have a Literature Discussion LO that you have been using in class that you 'really should get around to putting on VIIPEr' now is the perfect time. Not only can you contribute to VIPEr, you can contribute to something bigger and trust me, it is going to be awesome. One more requirement to keep in mind: the papers have to be in ACS journals.
I hope to be hearing from many of you soon.
I'm in!
Me too! I already have some articles picked out.
I'm game too! (And willing to work with a group that you assign.)
Great! I have one other e-mail contact so far so that puts us at 4. Come on community, I know there are more of you out there that want to do this!
Hi Chip,
I am in. I am willing to work on an assigned group..would love to participate in one that adds CBC questions. I would love to participate in a group that focuses on a paper to be read by an Inorganic Course (one term type overview course for junior/senior chem majors).
Best,
marion
