It's an exciting day for the IONiC/VIPEr community!!

The 2010 Nobel Prize in chemistry was awarded to Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi, and Akira Suzuki for palladium-catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis!

Here's a link to the Nobel Prize page:

We would welcome a "5-slides about" learning object on this if anyone has prepared one. In the mean time, there is a "5-slides about" palladium cross-coupling reactions from Adam Johnson's students at Harvey Mudd College: https://www.ionicviper.org/five-slides-about/palladium-catalyzed-coupli…. It includes a slide on the mechanism of the Heck reaction and much more.

Organometallic chemistry rocks!!

The winners of the Noble Prize this year are really amazing and well chosen too. They have contributed studies that are promising and a pavement for the future. For Physics category, for discovering graphene, a pair of Russian physicists have achieved fame and fortune. Graphene is the thinnest, strongest material known to man that conducts electricity and heat better than any substance.Experiments are being conducted by scientists all over the world to determine practical graphene applications that consist of replacing silicon in computer chips, ultra-definition screens and new components as yet unknown.
