Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
- read and comprehend the primary literature article
- name cobalt coordination complexes
- apply HSAB theory to cobalt(III)-Schiff base complexes and metal ion binding of zinc finger proteins
- apply the ligand spectrochemical series to determine the spin state of a cobalt(III)-Schiff base complex
- verbalize their answers to a series of questions and use these answers to develop answers to more detailed questions that arise during a discussion
- interpret and explain the results from various spectroscopies
