In our introductory class, we've periodically used Sapling online homework system. We are looking at a new book for the fall that comes with the Smartwork homework system which seems quite a bit like Sapling. Anyone have any experience with both and can talk about the differences and pros/cons other than price?

We use SmartWork (and the Norton text), and will be using it for the third year this fall. No major complaints. When we started using it, they did not have ALL the end of chapter questions in, which was frustrating, but I believe that has been mostly fixed now. Students seem to find the system much less annyoing that Mastering, which is what we had used in the past. As with any new system, it can take a while to figure out how they run and organize the system, but I don't recall having too many difficulties.
At Merrimack, we used SmartWork in its early days (alongside the Gilbert et al. text from W.W. Norton) and swithced back to it this past year after using MasteringChemistry for a number of years. My colleague Steve Theberge used it in General Chemistry this past year and I will be using it in the fall. Steve reported that he had no real problems with it. I like the interface and have been happy using it. I am just getiing my course set up for the fall and it is easy to use.
