The Hope College Chemistry Department (www.hope.edu/academic/chemistry) invites applications for a one-year term position beginning Fall 2012 with the possibility of an additional year depending on performance and enrollment demand. Assistant Professor level, Ph.D. in chemistry required. Primary teaching responsibilities include general chemistry lecture and laboratory as well as some other area of chemistry, such as analytical or biochemistry. The development of an externally-funded research program involving undergraduate students is not expected, but since the Chemistry Department is a national leader in undergraduate research, any summer research activity with undergraduates would be considered a strength. Submit curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy and competencies, and a cover letter to Dr. Graham Peaslee, Chairperson. All materials must be submitted electronically in pdf format. A review of all completed applications will begin immediately. A subset of successful candidates will be asked to submit original transcripts, three letters of recommendation and a statement describing their fit to the mission of the college in early Summer 2012.
