The Chemistry Department of The Cooper Union invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position. Candidates with strong backgrounds in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis are particularly encouraged to apply.

A Ph.D. in chemistry is required; postdoctoral experience is preferred. We seek a talented educator who has an established research record and is interested in involving undergraduate engineering students in research. The qualified applicant will demonstrate a proven track record of obtaining funding for collaborative research (in areas such as, but not limited to, environmental, nanotechnology or biomedical applications) and will also have experience in teaching high-quality undergraduate courses (particularly courses in general chemistry, instrumental analysis and/or organic chemistry). Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required, as is the ability to work collaboratively within the Department and the School of Engineering.  Candidates with strong knowledge of AA, GC-MS, HPLC, UV/Vis, Fluorescence, IR and/or NMR spectroscopies are especially welcome.

The Cooper Union is located in the heart of New York City, and is a highly selective, primarily undergraduate institution offering degrees in engineering, art and architecture. The Chemistry Department is housed within The Albert Nerken School of Engineering, which includes approximately 500 engineering students majoring in chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. The Cooper Union is home to the Maurice Kanbar Center for Biomedical Engineering; the Institute for Sustainable Design; and the Center for Signal Processing, Communications and Computer Engineering Research.
