The Chemistry Department at Furman University seeks candidates for the position of Professor
and Chair to begin August 1, 2024. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of excellence
in teaching, a distinguished record of research success, and the proven leadership skills and
strategic vision to guide a department with a long history of excellence in undergraduate teaching
and scholarship. In collaboration with a highly engaged faculty, the successful candidate will
help set the agenda for curriculum development, research support and mentorship, and faculty
professional growth, and will foster a climate in which all members of the department will have
the opportunity to excel in a vibrant liberal arts environment. It is anticipated that a successful
candidate will hold a Ph.D. in chemistry and currently hold a tenured faculty appointment at an
accredited college or university. Successful candidates will be able to share a vision of high
impact, experiential teaching practices and demonstrate an approach to teaching and research
that promotes diversity and inclusion in higher education.

Each of these materials should demonstrate that the candidate is ready to contribute the utmost excellence in teaching, scholarship, mentoring and service to a liberal arts college community that includes a commitment to diversity as one of its core values.
