Is anyone else doing Focus the Nation this year? It is a nationwide teach-in designed to promote awareness about global climate change and is happening at the end of January. I was wondering if anyone had any interesting ideas about inorganic chemistry topics... DePauw is doing it, and I am thinking I might do something about using electrochemical storage of alternative energy to generate power during off peak times.

We're doing Focus the Nation, too, and I hadn't thought at all about ways to connect it to my inorganic course. We spend some time on LEDs when we do solids, so there's a connection to energy conservation. I don't know much about electrochemical storage, but a lot of people are working on hydrogen storage, which might be interesting. Anyone else?
