Hello IONiC community,

We will have SLiThEr #23 on 07/22//21 at 3PM EST. The title is "Strategies to Pre-assess First-year STEM students" and the presenters are Drs. Kari Stone from Lewis University and Sarah Shaner from Southeast Missouri State University

Here's the abstract:

"General chemistry is traditionally subject to high failure rates of a particularly vulnerable student population from a retention point of view- first-year college students. We will present a strategy that has worked to target academically unprepared students and the interventions that were implemented to increase success of our students through the general chemistry course sequence. We will also discuss other strategies used by chemistry faculty and how our framework can be flexible enough to include other types of interventional strategies."

This issue is something many of us have tried to tackle in different ways, and we hope you come and join the discussion. Sign up by filling out this short registration form and we will email you a zoom link before the event

Our previous SLiThErs were recorded and posted on YouTube. You can find the links here.

Sincerely,

The SLiThEr Planning Team
