The Chemistry Department at the United States Naval Academy invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin the Fall semester of 2019. The successful applicant must be strongly committed to teaching at the undergraduate level and will be expected to teach general chemistry in the institution’s core curriculum and upper-level chemistry courses in our ACS-certified chemistry majors program. The department is very interested in applicants who can serve as mentors and role models to our highly diverse student body. In addition, the candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous research program which includes supervision of undergraduate researchers. The search is open to all areas of chemistry. Candidates with a background in organic chemistry and related fields are particularly encouraged to apply. Also, candidates in all areas who can take advantage of the department’s significant capabilities beyond routine analytical instrumentation including access to DoD High Performance Computing centers, an X-ray diffractometer, high-field NMR, MALDI-TOF MS, con-focal Raman Spectrometer, con-focal fluorescence microscope, AFM, and access to a scanning electron microscope are also encouraged to apply.

This is a 10-month, tenure-track federal excepted service position. The initial contract period is for three years. Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
