As I was reading Kyle's post on the conversation on the Andre the Chemist blog, that go me thinking a bit about chemistry blogs and the fact that the academic year is finally over. Does anyone have good recommendations for "must read" (or even pretty good) blogs about chemistry and related subjects? I'd like to try and get in some good reading habits over the summer.

Female Science Professor is one that appears regularly in Chronicle of Higher Ed and I occasionally will read entries from it that aren't in the Chronicle:

Happy summer reading!

Sometimes its hard to find a good blog, especially since they can often become defunct. It takes a lot of time and dedication to keep an active blog.

I enjoy "Just like cooking" (http://justlikecooking.blogspot.com/) and from there you can look at the sidebar and find many more.

I also like "In the pipeline" (http://pipeline.corante.com/) because it covers an area of chemistry I am generally unfamilliar with (drug discover/industrial medicial chemistry).

"ChemBark" (http://blog.chembark.com/ ) is one that I think is really good too.

"ChemJobber" (http://chemjobber.blogspot.com/) was one I followed quite a bit when I was looking for a job. This blog focuses on jobs in chemistry and the job outlook in academia and industry.

One really interesting blog is "BlogSyn", where several bloggers are getting together and trying to crowdsource reproducing literature reactions they think could be valuable or maybe a little too good to be true. They've had 3 installments, and I hope they have more: http://blog-syn.blogspot.com/

Of course, Retraction Watch is interesting to keep an eye on as well, although most retractions aren't in chemistry: http://retractionwatch.wordpress.com/

Unfortunately there aren't many Inorganic/Organometallic-oriented blogs.

There is this one, but its just a list of abstracts of papers: http://organometallics.blogspot.com/

Cheers,

Hi All,

This one isn't updated very often, but its a good resource for students who want to learn more about Organometallic chemistry or refresh their knowledge:

They also have a link to VIPER on the sidebar, which is a plus :)
