Last week, I found out that the a music professor at my institution loves the periodic table as much as an inorganic chemist and has put together two songs about the periodic table (before Livermorium and Flerovium were named).

That got me thinking... I wonder if there are enough periodic table songs out there to use one to start class every week during the semester. The two that I've used in the past are

While digging around I found one that's even up to date!

Do you have any other favorite songs about the elements or periodic table?

p.s. don't forget some of the other great chemistry songs out there...

Hi Barbara,

I think Adam Johnson sang an Boy Band (can't remember which one) remake/cover called "Isn't it Ionic" to us in Inorganic at some point. You should ask him to record it. Adam, do you still have that song or any others like it?

Hi Barbara,

I forgot to mention that I showed the youtube video of Daniel Radcliffe doing Tom Lehrer's Elements song to my Gen Chem 1 students last quarter. It was well-received, and I told them "If harry potter can learn the elements, so can you!".

I don't doubt that I sang the classic alt hit "Ionic" for you Kyle.  My standard though, goes back another generation: "50 ways to make a buffer."
